the lumber office
on the edge of town, a shell, the old office from the lumber mill, waiting to be a home for something again. made in the 30’s, neglected since the 80’s, torn down to the bones and taken on in 2016. a place that deserved another life.
after traveling with my family in Scandinavia, I brought some ideas home, but kept it foothill in ways, using the old lumber that was left behind, and filling in with treasures from the land, both from home and abroad.

After the design and re-build, the Lumber Office was both a family gathering place and a short-term rental. Then my dear friend from Kitkitdizzi, the renowned designer behind Gold Dust Collective and subsequent projects - Nikiya Schwarz - made it her home for a time, and brought the warmth and ordered abundance of color and texture for which she has become known.
