Where are the artists, and where is their work? In this out-of-the-way mountain town, where kitkitdizzi creeps over granite, saunas hide in river canyons, and people crave and croon for the real at all costs, we started with nothing, and through beauty and salvage of beauty, through kids/friends/partners and an insanely talented and vibrant community, we found everything worth finding.
After creating the store with the invaluable assistance of Nikiya Schwarz (as well as my lovely daughter Sadie, and hers, Maya and Poppy) in 2012, it ran at the top of Broad St. for many years. In heading to my next project, I sold it to Nevada City natives Kira Westly and Carrie Hawthorne, who moved it down to the heart of Broad and have raised it to be the icon of Nevada City that it is today.
